Demetra L. Thomas, LPC

My clinical skill set includes an extensive history and extreme passion in the specialty of conducting immigration evaluations for individuals from immigrant populations seeking lawful status via Asylum, U-Visa, T-Visa, VAWA, or Extreme Hardship Waivers.

As a Licensed Professional Counselor, my professional experiences includes both private and community mental health services for children, adolescents, adults and families impacted by emotional distress, trauma, and overall mental and behavioral health dilemmas and crises. In addition, my bilingual Spanish-speaking capabilities has enhanced my work with culturally diverse people of various ethnic backgrounds including previous work with immigrant youth through a federally funded grant.

An optimistic mindset led me to embark on a helping profession and a career that aims to instill the same in others who may be dealing with challenging life circumstances. This includes the provision of individual, family, and group therapy and when needed, crisis intervention services. My goal is to emphasize hope and encourage resiliency in the people that I help to support through the use of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing therapeutic approaches.

To fulfill my mission of service, I fulfilled educational endeavors of obtaining a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Clark Atlanta University, followed by a Master of Arts degree in Community Counseling from Argosy University.

I look forward to working with you!
