Maxine Carelock, MSW LCSW

Are you suffering in silence from a loss, domestic violence, divorce or separation? Does being an empty nester after the kids go off to college cause you to feel lost? Are friends and family complaining about your irritability and quick temper? Does managing your anger, stress and life choices seem overwhelming?

Life can be hard when you try to go at it alone, but fortunately, you don’t have to. I can help you manage feelings of uncertainty, unproductive negative emotions and ineffective behaviors that often lead to feelings of guilt, shame, emotional disconnect from others and self confidence problems.

My work focuses on helping you explore your difficulties to eliminate what’s not working for you in your life. Sometimes unconscious negativity, pessimism and unproductive behaviors get in the way to improving your quality of life and blocking your desire for healthy relationships and emotional wellness.

To help you reach your desired goals, I will use several effective methods such as Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Solution Focused Therapy approaches.

My work in the field of Social Work with more than (20) years of experience includes assisting adults, children, and families heal from grief/bereavement, overcome substance use disorders, help family members of people with intellectual developmental disabilities, support victims of domestic violence, overcome anger management issues, help heal relationships problems and process trauma.

I received my Bachelor’ s degree in Social Work from Salem State College and my Master’s degree in Social Work from Clark Atlanta University.

Twice a year, Ms. Carelock co-facilitates a workshop with Gena Golden on Ethical and Cultural Considerations in End of Life Care
